Masterclass with a Head Chef

On our first day back after half term, our students had the opportunity to take part in a workshop with an award-winning Head Chef.

We invited Lee Marshall, a Head Chef with years of culinary experience to hold this very special workshop for our Year 11 GCSE Food Technology students. He’s worked in some of Yorkshire’s most iconic restaurants and received many accolades including three AA Rosette Awards, Restaurant of the Year (Yorkshire Life) and Entrepreneur of the year.

Our students and Mrs Parkin watched as Lee filleted mackerel and put together an amazing fish dish using his skills and expertise.

It was fantastic to see how a chef would put the dish together on the plate, or in this case on the slate!

It was then the students turn to recreate this dish, MasterChef style. They did a fantastic job, the skills they developed and the dish they created have been recorded and will be used as part of their GCSE portfolio.

An amazing experience for our chefs in the making!
