Royal Society Book Awards Final
A group of students have been reading and judging the six shortlisted science books this year. Back in February, we voted for our favourite book ‘Am I Made of Stardust?’, which was almost unanimous amongst the group. We sent our scores to The Royal Society, who were gathering the votes from all the schools, libraries and reading groups who took part.
On Tuesday 19th March, we attended the online awards ceremony which included fun science experiments by the Mad Scientist team. During the interview section where each author and illustrator were interviewed, we were very excited to see that one of our questions had been chosen. We wanted to know why the author had chosen to write a book about ‘Deadly and Dangerous Animals’ rather than cute and cuddly ones.
The overall winning book was ‘Am I Made of Stardust?’ by Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock.
We have 2 copies of the winning book in the library if anyone needs answers to their big questions about space. Thank you to all the students who got involved in this project. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
