RHS Harlow Carr visit
On 7th June 2024, a group of students from the Co-op Grange Gardening Club were invited to visit the RHS Garden Harlow Carr.
The day involved a guided tour of the garden, starting at the Alpine House and the rockery. The students were amazed to observe that some plants can survive and thrive in barely any soil. Then we enjoyed the delicious sights in the kitchen garden which was burgeoning with fruits, vegetables and herbs. We then walked along the Streamside and saw the brilliant blue Meconopsis (Himalayan poppy) and the candelabra primulas in rainbow colours. We also took part in tree identification and flower spotting challenges while we enjoyed the fragrant and colourful roses. Finally, we had a rendezvous with the ‘Logness Monster’.
This visit provided our students with an opportunity to study a variety of plants growing in diverse conditions.
