Poetry - Bradford Literature Festival
A group of First Story students attended the Performance Poetry event at St. Georges Hall, Bradford, hosted by the Bradford Literature Festival. The event was compèred by Akeim Toussaint Buck, who discussed politics, rap-artists, performed some amazing dance moves and generally kept the programme moving and everyone entertained.
The four poets who read their work, talked about what poetry means to them, gave tips on how to perform poetry and took questions from the floor were Matt Abbott, poet, educator and activist, the writer, rapper and Guinness world record-breaking human beatbox Testament, Khadijah Ibrahim the literary activist, theatre maker and writer and British Palestinian spoken word artist and poet Tasneim Zyada.
We had an amazing day, learning lots about different types of poetry, and hearing poetry delivered in an exciting and accessible manner. Poetry is for everyone!
