Timetable changes
Our student timetable has temporarily changed and some students will work from home

18 November | Changes to the week

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to thank you for your support since your children have returned to school in September. I know that for many of you this has meant managing periods of time when your children have been unable to attend school, either because they have had Covid 19, or they have needed to self-isolate because of their contact with a positive case in their teaching bubble. Teachers and students have been getting used to working in new ways, and most students now have a Chromebook so that they can work remotely if they need to. Nearly all students have now logged onto Google classroom to access school and homework.

Covid related staff absence has increased over recent weeks, in line with the national picture of rising cases, leading to the second national lockdown.   We are now at the point that we do not have enough teaching and support staff available for work, for the school to run as normal. With the support and guidance of the Co-op Trust and our school governors I have had to take the difficult decision to introduce a rota with immediate effect, until Friday 4th December. I will review the position at this time and write to you again. This means that you will be able to plan for days when your children will be at home and we will be able to plan for the necessary amendments to the school timetable. By doing this we will be able to ensure that more students are being taught by Grange staff, rather than supply teachers and  ensure there are sufficient support and administrative staff to work with students in the building. This means we will ask one year group a day to work at home, on Google classroom.

The rota is as follows:

Date Year group at home
Thursday 19th November  Year 7
Friday 20th November Year 8
Monday 23rd November Training Day. All year groups at home.
Tuesday 24th November  Year 7
Wednesday 25th November Year 8
Thursday 26th November Year 9
Friday 27th November Year 7
Monday 30th November Year 8
Tuesday 1st December Year 9
Wednesday 2nd December Year 7
Thursday 3rd December Year 8
Friday 4th December Year 9

Working at home

Our expectation is that all students working at home should broadly follow the school day. This means a normal get up time and being ready to work and learn from 9am, so please make sure they go to bed on time. Students are to follow their normal timetable and complete all the work set for them on Google classroom by their class teacher. They should take breaks and lunchtime. Ideally, they should work at a desk or a kitchen table, with regular check ins from an adult if possible. They can email their teachers if they need to. There will be sufficient work set for them by their teachers for them to be busy throughout the day.

Free school meals

If your child is in receipt of a free school meal, they will receive a grab bag with their lunch for the following day to eat when they are working at home. Please refrigerate this when they bring it home.

Please direct any questions and queries about this new arrangement to your child’s Achievement Leader or Assistant Achievement Leader.  Their email details are below:
