World Book Day trip to Bradford Library to meet author Margaret Mulligan

As part of the World Book day celebrations I took the year 7 Ready Readers to Bradford Library where we met the author Margaret Mulligan.

Margaret has written a time-shift novel ‘Katy Parker and the House That Cried’ where two children wake to find themselves transported back in time to the 1940’s and have become evacuees in the war.

Margaret read from her novel then students were encouraged to investigate the contents of the two suitcases holding typical items that an evacuated child would pack, including toys, money, ration books and gas masks.

Students learned how to operate the self service machine in the library and exchanged their library books.

All students were given a collection of World Book Day books to take home and keep.
