Yr7 Grangers visit Bradford Libraries
On January 25 year 7 students from Co-op Academy Grange visited Bradford Libraries as part of the literacy drive. The event was organised by Dianne Blashill who is the school librarian.
The first part of the visit took place in the Local and Family History section which is based in McMillian Tower, the students met Mrs Carnegie who told them all about her husband Andrew Carnegie who was responsible for the building and implementation of the free library movement in the early 1900’s.
After the students had had a look around the library, a favourite subject being pictures of the old trolley buses from Bradford they walked down the City Library based in Centenary Square where Christinea Donnelley, the Development Officer for Young People in Bradford Council, issued each student with a borrower card. The students took a tour of the library, chose books and leaned how to issue their books.
